Lawn Renovation

scarify lawn

If your lawn is looking worse for wear and in need of repair, a lawn renovation can bring it back to life again.

A lawn renovation may consist of a combination of treatments including; removing weeds & moss, applying fertilisers, over-seeding, applying a top-dressing and mechanical treatments such as; scarification & aeration.

A part renovation may be suitable if the lawn is patchy in places or if the majority of the existing lawn is in good condition with no underlying issues such as drainage.

A full renovation may be required if problems such as weeds, moss & thatch are more prevalent throughout the lawn.

Sometimes, an existing lawn may be in a state beyond repair or have underground issues that need addressing. Therefore, it may make more sense to remove the old lawn and start over.

Lawn Renovations may include:

  • Patch Repair
  • Remove Weeds, Moss & Thatch
  • Improve Soil Content
  • Level bumps and pivots
  • Reseed & Topdress
  • Scarify & Aerate
  • Pest & Disease Control
  • Fertiliser Lawn Treatments

Laying A New Lawn

Roll of turf

If a completely new lawn is required, in most cases our suggested method is turfing/laying turf rather than growing from seed. After preparation of the ground this involves laying down rolls of pre-grown and established grass.

We find this to be the most reliable method, producing the fastest results and requiring the least aftercare. A newly turfed lawn can establish itself and be ready for normal use in under 1 month.

Taking up an old lawn presents us with the opportunity to better prepare the surface beneath, by levelling the ground, dealing with drainage issues and improving the structure and content of the soil.

If the ground beneath the surface is not prepared correctly, it usually won’t take too long for a new lawn to begin looking just like the old one.

When Laying A New Lawn We Will:

  • Remove the old lawn
  • Deal with any issues such as drainage
  • Introduce new top soil
  • Level and compact the surface
  • Supply and lay the rolls of turf
  • Remove waste generated
  • Provide aftercare and ongoing maintenance

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we are fully insured for £2 million public liability insurance which covers us working on your property. We also hold the required waste disposal license allowing us to transport garden waste.

Yes we can take away the waste when we leave. However, when possible, we try to find alternative ways in dealing with green waste. An old lawn for example, makes great compost, usually within 1 year. This can then be fed back to the plants in your garden. Saving you money, getting rid of it in the first place and then again on plant food and compost. When we visit to price the job, we will discuss the options with you. Ultimately, it is always your choice and comes down to personal preference.

Newly laid lawns do tend to grow quite rapidly for the first few years so we may need to visit more often than we would for a more established lawn. Typically we mow around 20 times per year on a fortnightly basis between March-Dec. A new lawn would benefit from weekly mowing through the growing season to reduce stress on the young grass.

Our core garden services are grass cutting and lawn care, hedge cutting & trimming, maintaining plants, beds & borders, weed control, leaf clearance, pressure washing and general garden tidy-up’s. Please take a look at the services section of our website for a more detailed understanding.
